Our Junior school consists of students in Years 7, 8 and 9. Students in these years will study a range of core subjects along with electives they have chosen.
Year 7 and 8
In Years 7 and 8, students will study seven core subjects and two electives across two semesters. The Year 7 Curriculum Overview provides information on the learning structure for Year 7 and 8.
In summary, it includes three units which are studied for the full year:
Two units in either Semester 1 or Semester 2 of:
- History/Civics and Citizenship
And in the alternative semester:
- Geography/Business and Economics
- Language (French or Japanese)
Students will select one elective for each semester, so that they complete one Arts elective and one Technologies elective across the year.
- Arts electives (Art, Drama, Media, Music)
- Technologies electives (Design Tech, Digital Tech, Fibre Tech, Food Tech, Industrial Tech)

Students in Year 9 will complete five core subjects over a year with the opportunity to select two electives each semester. Electives may be studied for the year, or may be swapped at the end of Semester 1 depending on timetable availability.
The Year 9 curriculum guide 2023.pdf provides detailed information to assist students to plan subject selections. Students will select Year 9 subjects during Term 3 of Year 8.
In summary, students will study five core units:
- History (one semester only)
- HPE (one semester only)
Students will select two electives. Electives can be studied for the entire year, or subject to timetable availability can be changed at the end of Semester 1. Electives offered are subject to demand and class numbers. Electives that may be offered in Year 9 include:
- Creative Technologies
- Economics and Business Studies
- Industrial Technology and Design
- Music Extension
- The Arts
