Mansfield State High School offers a wide range of subjects to cater for students' learning needs and interests. Students are encouraged to select subjects that they enjoy and are good at, while also considering any prerequisites that may be needed, the difficulty of the subject and their own ability.
In Years 7, 8 and 9 core subjects and electives are offered. Year 10 students have the opportunity to select preparatory subjects. These subjects are an opportunity to try different options, and in some cases may be the prerequisite to enrolling in the subject for Year 11.
Senior students complete a two-year program to gain their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE). Units 1 and 2 of each subject are completed in Terms 1, 2 and 3 of Year 11. Units 3 and 4 commence from Term 4 of Year 11, continuing into Year 12 where in Term 4 they will sit their final, external exams.
