Placement into an ensemble in the Mansfield Instrumental Program is by audition for woodwind, brass, percussion and strings. This is in addition to auditions required for the Programs of Excellence.
Auditions are not required for the Choral Program, or for piano and guitar.
Students will perform a piece of their own choice that best shows their ability. They will be given a piece of sight reading and a few scales to play for each instrument on which they are auditioning.
Audition bookings are made via the PTO booking system using the login details provided to students with a confirmed enrolment. This information is emailed to parents in Term 4.

Students auditioning for more than one instrument will need to book two audition slots.
All placement auditions will be held at the Mansfield State High School Music Centre M Block.
There is no parking on school grounds.
Students must bring their own instrument (or sticks for percussion) along with their completed Music Placement Form.
