Out of catchment students must apply for a position in one or more Programs of Excellence which have now closed for 2025. Applications for enrolments commencing Year 7 in 2026 will open on Wednesday 23 April 2025. A non-refundable application processing fee of $250 applies for all out of catchment applications.
Places in our Programs of Excellence are merit based and open to students entering Year 7 the following year. Applicants can reside in the local catchment (no fee applies) or live out of catchment. Programs of Excellence are the only enrolment pathway for out of catchment students.
The only exception is our Program of Excellence in Instrumental Music. This program is only for out of catchment enrolments. Applicants can be for any year level, but must demonstrate exceptional musical talent in their selected instrument. Places are strictly limited and subject to availability.
Mansfield State High School offers the following Programs of Excellence:
Students who apply for entry under a Program of Excellence must have school reports that reflect continued excellence in academia, behaviour and effort.
Out of catchment students will be enrolled after:
- attending an open day
- submitting an enrolment application and applying for a place in a Program of Excellence
- paying the non-refundable $250 enrolment processing fee
- attending an interview with the Executive Principal
- accepting an offer for a Program of Excellence.
Enrolment applications
Before submitting an out of catchment enrolment for Year 7 in 2026:
- read through the information on our Programs of Excellence as enrolment in a program is the only pathway for enrolment if you do not live within the school catchment area, and
- read our Preparing to enrol Year 7 2026 guide when it becomes available on Wednesday 2 April 2025 (after our second Open Day).
To submit an enrolment application please complete the Year 7 Application Pack which will become available after our Open Day.
Completed applications MUST be submitted in person to the Enrolments Officer. Applications will be accepted between 8.00am and 2.30pm Monday to Friday from Wednesday 23 April 2025 through until Friday 30 May 2025. Applications for out of catchment enrolments cannot be accepted after the Programs of Excellence applications are closed.
Incomplete, late or emailed applications will not be accepted.
