Mansfield State High School offers all students the opportunity to play sport through Gala Days. Traditionally, representative school sport and MSG team sports have only been accessible to a small number of students who have well developed skills and experience playing at a competitive level. Opportunities to play are determined through trials, and many players are unsuccessful.
To increase the opportunity for all students to experience the benefits of team sport, we offer students in Years 7, 8 and 9 the opportunity to play in a sports Gala Day through self nomination. Teams are created to meet demand, and there is not the ongoing commitment of a season or regular training which can be hard to meet for some students.
Students do not require a specific representative sports uniform, but instead play in their school sports uniform. Costs are kept to a minimum to ensure that this opportunity is accessible.
In 2025 there will be two Gala Days.

- Winter Gala Day, Wednesday 17 September
