Commencing at 3.30pm in the Assembly Hall, this event includes:
- Afternoon tea
- STEM ambassadors and stalls from Universities
- Display of student work
- Round table discussion with our panellists and moderator on pathways and obstacles for women seeking careers in STEM. They will share career advice and what they have learnt on their own individual journeys with our students.
Our panellists this year include:
- Dr Eva Plaganyi-Lloyd (studies biological modelling of marine and other renewable biological resources – CSIRO);
- Ms Rachel Huang (double Bachelor degree in Biological and Chemical Engineering and Biomedical Science (2022) - UQ. Start-up Founder, Up-and-Comer Technology Award in the 2022 Women in Technology (WiT) Awards);
- Katrina Wruck (studies green activation of mineralogical samples and mining waste - QUT. A proud Mabuigilaig (Torres Strait Islander) woman);
- Ms Solene Hegarty-Cremer (Polymathian); and
- Moderator: Dr Kirsty Short (studies past, present and future viral pandemics – School of Chemistry and Molecular Bioscience, UQ).
This is a free event hosted by the Science Department and all are welcome. Bookings required to assist with catering.
