Enrolling at our school

An Enrolment Management Plan applies at Mansfield State High School.  Please refer to the enrolment management plan and the catchment map to determine eligibility for enrolment. 
 

Enrolments for immediate start are accepted continuously throughout the year for families who live in the catchment area.  Future enrolments are only accepted for the year immediately following.

Wanting to enrol your student at Mansfield State High School? 

All prospective students and parents are invited to attend Mansfield State High School’s Open Days.  You will receive a guided tour of the school as well as an informative and interesting talk.  Come early and enjoy listening to one of our magnificent Mansfield music ensembles.  All relevant enrolment forms and information will be available on the day. 
 
Students can apply for enrolment at Mansfield State High School under the following categories:   
 
  • catchment area: student’s principal place of residence is within the  defined local catchment area
  • Programs of Excellence: selected based on an order of merit. 
 
Students who apply for entry under the Programs of Excellence must have school reports that reflect continued excellence in academia, behaviour and effort.

Enrolment Applications Years 7 to 12 2019 

For students permanently residing within the catchment area and wishing to enrol in Years 7 to 12 for 2019, please contact the school office on 3452 5333 to discuss our enrolment requirements and collect an enrolment application pack.   

Out of Catchment Applications for Years 7 to 12 2019 

At present, due to the high demand of enrolment applications within our catchment area, we are not accepting applications from out of catchment students for 2019.   

Enrolment Applications for Year 7 2020 

Parents wishing to enrol a student for Year 7 2020 are required to attend an Open Day with their student to obtain all relevant enrolment information.  Once you have attended the Open Day, please follow the instructions for submitting an enrolment application for in-catchment students and out of catchment students.  A non-refundable application processing fee of $200 applies for all out of catchment applications. Enrolment applications will be accepted from Monday 4 March 2019. Out of catchment applications for Year 7 2020 must be submitted by Friday 26 April 2019.   

Enrolment applications for Years 8 to 12 2020 

Parents wishing to enrol a student for Years 8 to 12 2020 are encouraged to attend an Open Day to obtain all relevant enrolment information.  Mansfield State High School will accept enrolment applications from in-catchment students only.   

Programs of Excellence

Mansfield State High School offers the following Programs of Excellence:  
 
Entry into a Program of Excellence is available for Year 7 students only, except for Co-Curricular Instrumental Music which is available for any year level, subject to availability.  Successful students are offered a position in a Program of Excellence following a meritorious selection process.  

Sibling enrolments 

The Mansfield State High School Enrolment Management Plan does not provide for the automatic enrolment of siblings of current students.  Please contact the Enrolments Officer on 3452 5333 to obtain further information.  

How to enrol   

Application packs are available from our school’s administration office.  Please contact our Enrolments Officer on 3452 533 for further information.   

All out of catchment applications and in-catchment applications for a Program of Excellence must be submitted to our administration office by Friday 26 April 2019.   

Completed applications are required to be submitted in person to the Enrolments Officer.  Remember that certain documents must be copied and certified by a Justice of the Peace before they are submitted with the application.  Incomplete applications will not be accepted.   

Eligibility for enrolment 

In-catchment students  

Under the Enrolment Management Plan, priority will be given to the enrolment of students who reside in the local catchment area. You are required to provide proof that you are a permanent resident within the catchment area.   
 
The following documents plus a Statutory Declaration must be submitted with the application for an in-catchment student:  
 
1.       Proof of identity of student: 
  • certified copy of student’s birth certificate (Australian or overseas); and
  • certified copy of student’s passport and visa if not born in Australia; and
  • certified copy of the student’s Australian Citizen Certificate, if they have become an Australian citizen within the last five years. 
2.       Proof of residency 
 
If you own a property and live there permanently: 
  • certified copy of the latest rates notice; and
  • certified copy of the latest electricity invoice/receipt; or
  • if you have recently purchased a property:
    1. certified copy of the letter of settlement from your solicitor; and
    2. certified copy of the electricity connection notice.
 
If you are Renting a property:  
  • certified copy of the current rental agreement; and
  • certified copy of the RTA rental bond receipt; and
  • certified copy of the latest electricity invoice/receipt, or electricity connection notice.

 
Note: Shared living arrangements or renting of a room do not qualify as a permanent residence.  
3.    Academic records 
  • copy of the most recent academic report; and
  • copy of the most recent NAPLAN results. 

If the Executive Principal is not satisfied that the documentation provided by an applicant demonstrates adequately that the address stated is the student’s principal place of residence, then the Executive Principal may request further sources of proof of residence.

In-catchment students will be enrolled: 
 
1.       after attending an Open Day; and  
2.       submitting an application; and   
3.       attending a scheduled group Conference with the Executive Principal.   

Out of Catchment students – Year 7 2020 only 

Out of catchment students must apply for a position in one or more Programs of Excellence by Friday 26 April 2019.  A non-refundable application processing fee of $200 applies for all out of catchment applications. 
 
Places for out of catchment students are restricted, and will only be offered if students have satisfied and met the selection process for a Program of Excellence, and the defined number of places for a Program of Excellence has not been filled by enrolments from within the local catchment area.  
 
The following documents must be submitted with the application for an out of catchment student: 
 
1.       Proof of identity of student: 
  • certified copy of student’s birth certificate (Australian or overseas)
  • certified copy of student’s passport and visa if not born in Australia
  • certified copy of the student’s  Australian Citizen Certificate, if you have become an Australian citizen within the last five years.   
2.    Academic records 
  • copy of the most recent academic report
  • copy of the most recent NAPLAN results.   
3.    Programs of Excellence 
Indicate your preference for a Program of Excellence as part of the application process. 
 
Out of catchment students will be enrolled: 
 
1.       after attending an Open Day; and  
 
2.       submitting an application and applying for a Program of Excellence; and 
 
3.       paying the non-refundable  $200 enrolment processing fee; and  
 
4.       attending an interview with the Executive Principal; and  
 
5.       accepting an offer for a Program of Excellence.  

Enrolment Interviews – Students commencing in 2019

Once all application documents have been submitted to the Enrolments Officer, you will be invited to attend an enrolment interview with the Executive Principal.   All enrolment interviews for students commencing in 2019 will be conducted on Thursday mornings.  Students will then commence school on the following Monday morning.
