Year 12 Art experiences

Recently the Year 12 Visual Art students attended a full day immersive field trip related to their current unit that focuses on the environment. We spent the day examining city locations without ‘art eyes’ and took lots of photographic records. Probably the most compelling aspect of the trip was the hour we spent at the old Boggo Road Goal site. The stories the guide told us and the urban decay evident at the site, were rich fodder for conceptual ideas and wonderful photographic artworks. We also visited the University of Queensland where we viewed an exhibition by indigenous artist Danie Mellor at the Art Museum.  We had a great day and the students’ behaviour was exemplary.
