Laptops in 2018

21/01/2018

Welcome back to an exciting year at school.

You should all now be aware that we have now begun a laptop policy for all year 7, 10 and 11s. This means students in these years must bring a laptop to school every day. If you do not yet have a laptop you need to arrange to get one as soon as possible.

There are two options available:

1. Join the school laptop program

2. Bring your own device (BYOD)

Information about these options is on the Computers and Internet section of the school website. We have extra laptops available now if you want to join the school program. All you need is a deposit, sign an agreement and you can have a new laptop within a few days. If you want to BYOD then please make sure the laptop meets the minimum specifications and you have filled in the BYOD agreement form.

Until you have your own laptop, you will have to pick up a loan laptop from the Library each day before school and return it to the Library after school. Remember, all students in year 7, 10 and 11 must come to class with a laptop.

Students already in the school program will receive their laptop in week 1 for 10s and 11s and in week 2 for 7s. You will be asked to pick up the laptop from the Library at a specified time. We will let you know the time when you first come to school.

If you are bringing your own laptop, please keep it at home until you are told to bring it in. This won’t happen until at least week two and possibly week three. We still need to complete upgrades to our school network to allow BYO devices to connect. We will let you know when this upgrade is complete. The BYO laptops must go through an on-boarding process to connect to the school network the first time and will then connect automatically from then on.

Finally, please remember students currently in years 8, 9 and 12 will be continuing current arrangements and will not be allowed to bring laptops this year. The whole school will join the program from 2019 onwards.
