English Family Prize

School Captain, Daniel Elvery, has again this year been selected as a finalist for the prestigious English Family Prize. Each year, young budding musicians from schools around the state are invited to audition for the English Family Prize. With the generosity of the English Family, the finalists receive prize money ranging from $5,000 to $500 to further their studies, or to assist with purchasing an instrument. Thirty-three young musicians auditioned on Monday 15 February and six finalists were selected to perform in a public recital on Monday 29 February. Daniel was one of the six.
The overall winner also receives the opportunity to perform as a soloist with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra at an upcoming education concert. A loan of an exquisite instrument may also be awarded to a finalist by the NFA Anthony Camden Fund and National Instrument Bank Award. Daniel will be playing Jacques Ibert’s Concertino da Camera on his alto saxophone.
Congratulations Daniel!
